Here’s a few sentences lifted from a Scottish daily newspaper back in 2017:-
“Members of one of Paisley’s most popular indie bands have decided to dust down their guitars and play a reunion show… more than 20 years after their last gig. The Muldoons were a familiar name of the local live circuit in the early 90s, taking the stage at pubs and clubs, and even the town hall to impress fans. However, the group decided to call it a day after a coupe of line-up changes and put their instruments into storage.
Now, 20 years later, the boys are back in town, and ready to rock The Bungalow, in Shuttle Street, on Friday night.
Guitarist Bobby Corrigan, said: “We were Paisley’s finest indie band after forming in 1998 and playing venues like the now defunct Ale House, Toledo Junction supporting Paisley’s own Close Lobsters and also the Lagoon supporting another Paisley artist, Carol Laula.
Now, 20 years later, the boys are back in town, and ready to rock The Bungalow, in Shuttle Street, on Friday night.”
The reaction to the reunion show was so positive that the band decided to fully reform and record a self-released debut single in 2018. Further live shows followed and a follow-up single, again self-funded and released, came out in 2019. This all led to Last Night From Glasgow indicating an interest, and The Muldoons signed on the dotted line in 2020, since when there have been two deservedly well-received albums, Made For Each Other (2020) and We Saw The View (2024).

The long awaited debut album from Paisley’s Muldoons is a glorious jangly guitar lovers dream. The music will excite lovers of Lou Reed, Lloyd Cole, Lawrence and of course, the sound of Johnny Marr’s guitar. The Muldoons are inspired by bands like the Brilliant Corners, The Bodines, June Brides and all the great indie outfits who might have graced John Peels evening shows.

My own take? The Muldoons make music that puts a smile on my face and has me sighing for that era when I was younger, more energetic and had great haircuts!
