SATURDAY’S SCOTTISH SONG : #527: POLICECAT

Policecat emerged out of Edinburgh in 1994.

The initial members were Gordon Kilgour (vocals/guitar), Jonathan Kilgour (vocals/guitar), Katrina Dixon (drums) and John Harrington (bass).  Their first two singles in 94/95 came out on the then very underground and largely unknown Domino Records, after which they recorded for Creeping Bent Records, with two split-singles emerging in 1997 and 1998.  The band would also record a Peel Session in 1997, by which time Yvonne Slaven (keyboards) had joined, while Katrina Dixon had departed and been replaced as drummer by Scott Hall.

They then signed to American label, Fantastic Records, for who there was one single in late 1998 before they split up.

This is the second of the split 45s for Creeping Bent, released in June 1998.  It had previously been recorded for the above-mentioned Peel Session, which was broadcast on 31 July 1997.
