It’s become something of a tradition to use the 19 February posting to wish my wee brother, SC, a happy birthday. This year, I’ll give him a New Romantics EP to remind him of the time when, as a teenager, he went about dressed a wee bit silly. Only wish I had a photo from that era to share with you…..
mp3 : Duran Duran – Planet Earth
mp3 : Eurythmics – Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This
mp3 : Visage – Fade To Grey
mp3 : Spandau Ballet – To Cut A Long Story Short
Incidentally, there was a song intended for this post but which I’ve pulled so that it can feature on its own tomorrow.

PS : The lady holding SC is our mum, who herself turned 80 just a couple of weeks back. And who can hold her drink and party harder than either of us!
Thank you
SC
Happy Birthday SC and to your mum!
Eurythmics New Romantic?! Dunno about that one! But the whole New Romantic enchilada is a bit of a puzzle, and I lived through it in real time! I find that the Glam Rock and New Romantic movements [which were very, very similar] are had to define the parameters of. Is the sound? The themes? The look is important, but how important? I struggle with it myself. But I can flat out proclaim that Eurythmics were definitely not New Romantic.
Very grateful to have secured and destroyed all photographic evidence of myself taken during a 3 week new romantic phase.
Happy birthday, wee S.C.!
I’m an American. No one dressed like that over here though I loved the music! I did cop OMD and Numan looks though! Of course, any bank clerk looked like OMD!
That photo is adorable. Happy Birthday SC and belated greetings to your Mum.
I don’t know Monk, there were quite a few New Romantics roaming the streets of NYC for, maybe just, a few too many years…
Argh! This Google+ fiasco is making my life on line tedious at the moment…
