THE FESTIVE 50 OF 1989 (3 of 3)

All the words have been written at Parts 1 and 2 earlier this week. Here’s three more largely unheralded bands who had a entry in the 1989 Festive Fifty:-

mp3 : Snuff – Not Listening (#44)
mp3 : The Popguns – Landslide (#46)

  1. Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t this the Festive 50 Peel bemoaned as being full of white-boy guitar bands and refused to play for several months? He was right – there’s very little diversity there, especially when you consider the ridiculously eclectic mix of stuff Peel filled his shows with.

On the other hand – that Top 3! Woah!

  2. He definitely moaned about it – from memory between the 2 Stone Roses tracks that he had never played on the show – but i think it was broadcast at the right time.
