Adapted from wiki:-
“Lung Leg formed in late 1993 in Glasgow, Scotland, with a lineup of Jane McKeown (“Jane Egypt”) on bass and vocals, Annie Spandex and Maureen Quinn (“Mo Mo”) on guitar and vocals, and Amanda Doorbar (“Jade Green”) on drums. The band took their name from one of their inspirations – Lung Leg (Elisabeth Carr), a model and actress famous for roles in films of the transgressive movement (and on Sonic Youth‘s album cover EVOL).
Lung Leg went on to release The Negative Delinquent Autopsy (1994) and Shagg the Tiger (1995) EPs on the Piao! label. Both were named “Single of the Week” by Melody Maker. The two EPs were later compiled together as the 1997 10″ EP Hello Sir on Kill Rock Stars.
Amanda Doorbar left in 1996 and was replaced by Todd Parmenter, previously of English band Menswear. This second line up recorded their debut album, Maid to Minx, released in 1997 on the Vesuvius label.
Jane McKeown was also the drummer for Vesuvius labelmates Dick Johnson. When Maureen Quinn quit Lung Leg in 1997, they recruited her replacement, Philippa (“Photo Smith”) Smith, from Dick Johnson. This final line up re-recorded an album for Southern Records and embarked on their sole tour of the US in 1998 with the Make-Up, and recorded two final singles, “Krayola” (a split 7″ with The Make Up) in 1998 and “Maid to Minx” (a new recording of the title track from the debut album) in 1999, before splitting after a final farewell gig in May 1999
Lung Leg re-formed in 2021 with new members, Simone Antigone (Hair Band), Hando Morice (Water Machine) and Paul Thomson (Franz Ferdinand). Last Night from Glasgow reissued Maid to Minx in 2022 with additional bonus tracks.
They played a sold out reunion gig at The Baby Grand, Glasgow in December 2022, and later featured in the award-winning 2024 documentary Since Yesterday : The Untold Story. In October 2025, Lung Leg released their first new music in decades through the Glasgow-based label Second City Static. The release was a split 7-inch single featuring a collaboration with Unmarry Me a project consisting of Jon Slade and Chris Rowley, both former members of Huggy Bear. Lung Leg’s contribution to the 7″ was “Girls”, and featured guest saxophone by Lora Logic, known for her work with X-Ray Spex and Essential Logic.”

mp3: Lung Leg – Girls
I’ve a sneaking suspicion there might be more new music this year.

I like me a bit of Lung Leg but… my favourite line-up was the original line up, with the irrepressible Mo. I’d been friends with Mo since 1990 (I think?) yet had no idea she was in the band!? When I first saw Lung Leg (you guessed it, 13th Note Glassford Street – probably Kazoo Club). I was smitten with her charismatic stage presence – she looked like a pop star. I kinda bowed out of live interest in the band after her departure but continued to buy releases.
1997 was for me when the 13th Note (and most of its associated live club nights) had lost its way. It was generally full to busting of art school types who seemed to suffocate what had been a lively scene – as JC refers to members in several bands. It was incestuous and unhealthy.
I don’t know the new Lung Leg but I’ll say this… Jane hasn’t ever let up her love of pop music and was in another later band Peter Parker. She really has worked at this and should be commended.
Mo went on to form Nico’s Bike and feature on other artists records. She is a star!

Wasnt aware of the Peter Parker connection – Swallow the Rockets is a great song.
