Track 5 on Side 1 of Back In Your Life, the third album from Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers, released in February 1979.

The Modern Lovers on this occasion were Leroy Radcliffe (guitar and vocals), David Sharpe (drums, percussion and vocals) and Asa Brebner (bass guitar and vocals).  The song is a cover, written by John Gray and Robert Byrd, and originally a hit for doo-wop group The Hollywood Flames in November 1957.

  1. Jonathan Richman is always fun (and one of my secret favourites). I’m taking this song as an opportunity to start a new mix (just for me, of course) with birds as the theme. They are nice creatures. When I think of bees, the Mole Sisters always come to mind. My daughter and I used to love reading their adventures.

  2. I wondered if this was going to be the Primitives song of the same name, but it’s actually far too long to feature, given its epic running time of two minutes and four whole seconds…
