The Modern Lovers on this occasion were Leroy Radcliffe (guitar and vocals), David Sharpe (drums, percussion and vocals) and Asa Brebner (bass guitar and vocals). The song is a cover, written by John Gray and Robert Byrd, and originally a hit for doo-wop group The Hollywood Flames in November 1957.

Jonathan Richman is always fun (and one of my secret favourites). I’m taking this song as an opportunity to start a new mix (just for me, of course) with birds as the theme. They are nice creatures. When I think of bees, the Mole Sisters always come to mind. My daughter and I used to love reading their adventures.
