SONGS UNDER TWO MINUTES (13): BREAKING GLASS

An album track from 1977

mp3: David Bowie – Breaking Glass

Side 1, Track 2 of Low.  The eleventh studio album from David Bowie and the first of what is now referred to as the Berlin Trilogy, even though most of the record was  recorded in September/October 1976 at the Château d’Hérouville in France.

And yes, it is a short post today, but then again, that’s the nature of the Songs Under Two Minutes series.  Besides, I was tired after yesterday’s offering!

  1. Such a classic. This is one of those songs from my youth that has been played so many times I can hear every note in my head any time I want.
“Don’t look at the carpet, I threw something horrible on it…”

  2. “Low” is one of Bowie’s albums that I don’t own. According to Wiki, the songs with lyrics sound rather unfinished. The leisurely pounding “Breaking Glass” confirms this. “Low” contains many instrumental pieces. Khayem at Dubhed recently published a playlist of Bowie instrumentals. It includes three songs from “Low”, all of which are brilliant.
