It’s a cut’n’paste from the Buzzcocks singles series back in September 2016.
I was really sure that Love You More was a much bigger hit than #34. I think it’s the fact that it hung around in the Top 50 for a while that leads to that conclusion, but its chart run was 41, 34, 35, 35, 60,53 and so yup, mid-30s it was.
What it did do was get the band their first all-important appearance on Top of The Pops in July 1978 thus instantly making their name and sound recognisable to millions more people overnight. Which sort of set them up for the rest of the year. In the meantime, enjoy the magic of the 1 min 45 second pop single

And having mentioned the TOTP appearance…….

create stuff
oops should have read great stuff!
I don’t know. Create stuff seems in the original punk spirit to me.
But great stuff is definitely appropriate here. Possibly my favourite Buzzcocks single. (Although that might just be to appear interesting and avoid selecting Ever Fallen in Love)

Been reading a lot of Buzzcocks books recently.
#1 Paul Hanley – Sixteen Again It’s the best most comprehensive book on teh band to date. Highly recommended.
#2 Louie Shelley / Pete Shelley – Ever Fallen In Love Based almost entirely on interviews with Pete it’s occasionally a little uneven, but it’s still well worth having.
#3 Tony McGartland – Buzzcocks: The Complete History + Ouch. Not very good at all unless you want to know the physical location of various Buzzcocks over time. No insight into the band at all. Avoid.
Such a great ending to this tune. And a great preceding 1’45” of course.

I’m with you all the way about the Paul Hanley book on Buzzcocks. Up there as one of my favourites of the year.
