The morning after the day before.
Thanks for sticking with me during the 60 albums @ 60 rundown. Things will eventually return to normal, but I’m going off for a week-long break in Toronto as from tomorrow, so there will be a continuation of posts that have been prepared well in advance. I thought I’d kick things off post-birthday with yet another 60 minute long compilation, only as it felt like a good and appropriate idea.
mp3: Various – Nothing Lasts With Age (So People Say)
The Style Council – Speak Like A Child
Gorillaz (feat. Thundercat) – Cracker Island
Pop Will Eat Itself – Wise Up! Sucker
King Biscuit Time – I Walk The Earth
Pet Shop Boys – Sexy Northerner
The Fall – No Bulbs 3
Blondie – Dreaming
Dead Kennedys – Too Drunk To Fuck
Frightened Rabbit – Be Less Rude
Spare Snare – Have A Go
Go Home Productions – Making Plans For Vinyl
Sugarcubes – Birthday
The Brilliant Corners – Delilah Sands
The Wedding Present – We All Came From The Sea
Basement Jaxx- Where’s Your Head At
Elastica– Connection
Blur – Got Yer!
The Go Home Productions tune is a mash-up involving a well-known XTC tune and the lyric from Oops (Oh My), a Top 5 hit back in 2002 by Tweet feat. Missy Elliot.
And, as if by magic, the whole thing comes in at exactly 60 minutes and 0 seconds.
Making plans for Vinyl is brilliant!
Toronto?! My favorite city in North America! I can’t believe it’s been 22 years me my last visit! Too bad you can no longer shop at the astounding Sam The Record Man on Younge Street! Now THERE was a store!! Nay… a way of life!! Hopefully there are still time off the other fine shops where I spent hundreds of dollars on previous visits!
“Time off” = “some of”
Nothing comforts me more than a song by The Fall. That goes for even the good songs (I classify songs from The Fall as either good or unsurpassable).
“Too drunk to fuck” I assigned to three mixes: “punk”, “best_1981” and “going_out”. The cover version of Nouvelle Vague, on the other hand, made it onto “covers” and “malin” (Malin is my 17 year old daughter’s name).
Have a nice trip
The more I listen to “Sexy Northerner”, the more I like the song. I’m revising my view that the Pet Shop Boys released any interesting song after “Being Boring”.
Mhhhmmm
