An e-mail from SWC to Villain Towers.
Hey Jim
Hope you are well…As part of the bundle of records I bought Badger a few weeks back I picked up two 12″s that had no labels, they were in the indie category so I bought them both – they were 50p each. The problem is having played both of them I have no idea what they are….I’m wondering if your readers can help work out the mystery 12″ers.
The first one sounds like a remix of another track, there is a definite Beta Band feel to it – but I don’t think its them.
The second one is not indie it is very dancey and again could be a remix of something or just something a bit obscure that I don’t recognise….
I’ll provide a packet of biscuits of the persons choice to anyone who correctly identifies them – that obviously means I would have be able to find the original and agree….
Here they are.
mp3 : Unknown Track 1
mp3 : Unknown Track 2
Cheers

No bells ringing here. If the catalogue numbers are etched into the run-out grooves, you could try entering them into the Discogs search engine.
Thanks Swede I did check that – the second one has ‘Orlake’ etched into it the other one has very little etched into it.
The first one is PULP.
Seriously….? What track…? And how do you like your biscuits?
It’s “That Boy’s Evil”, a 1998 promo release. Damn – missed out on the biscuits!
So I bought an unmarked Pulp 12 inch for 50p. Unbelievable.
Don’t worry about the biscuits. I’ll save you the postage to New Hampshire, USA. You spent enough on the 12 inch!
Cheers.
£15 on Discogs…..
Not a clue mate. That second one sounds like the sort of thing that was rife in the 90s – a remix that contained so little of the original it was pratically unrecognisable. I bought a few of those, sucker that I am.

Big fan of Pulp so the first one hit the memory recall, only have the mp3 so 75p offered for vinyl purchase 🙂
Track 2, like everyone else, not got it yet. Brings to mind Sabres of Paradise with a bit of Bassheads (is there anybody out there?) on remix duties.
Second one, Mouse On Mars?
